Diets that focus on only two or three "particularly valuable" foods are very harmful.

Zigurds Zariņš: "The diet of ovo-lacto vegetarians is well-rounded and usually does not have deficiencies. The only way an ovo-lacto vegetarian diet can be harmful is if it is highly one-sided and focuses on only two or three 'particularly valuable' foods. The same applies to an omnivorous diet if it is one-sided. The main thing that should be observed in vegetarian and omnivorous diets is that they should be as varied as possible and include a variety of foods. It should be noted that it is usually vegetarians and vegans who pay particular attention to the variety of products. Omnivores are more likely to have a uniform diet than vegetarians and vegans."
